Around My Wrist

Around my wrist I have two bands,

One is pink and one is white.

The pink one reminds that blood was shed,

And though the stain may fade,

It remains,

And I must remember,

Call to mind,

The sacrifices that were made.

The white one reminds me that there is hope,

It represents,

The blank slate of the future,

Open and unmarked,

Ready for my mark,

A blank page,

For me to write the vision,

I bring the clarity,

And the colour.

Around my wrist,

I wear

These constant reminders,

Of the past and the future,

Centring me

In the present.
