Sometimes my body demands sleep from me,
My mind would rather remain awake,
Searching out secrets, sayings, sonnets and psalms,
But my body is insistent,
Closing my eyes,
Slowing my breath,
Cloaking my ears,
I drift away,
For a series of unknown moments,
Into sweet, restful nothingness,
And then I am back,
Back from sleep,
Back with the world.
