The Stories That Took My Fear

How I lost my fear?

The story of my fearlessness,

Is a story of stories.

I grew up on stories of a man who emerged unscathed from a lions’ den,

And so I expect all my lions to sleep.

I was raised on tales of people who stepped into fiery furnaces and were not burned,

So I put more stock in the fire burning within me.

For decades I have revelled in the account of the boy who defeated a giant,

And now I expect all my giants to fall.

My heart holds the story of a man who overcame death,

So now death has lost its sting.
